Definition:
- Fecal incontinence, or anal incontinence, is the inability to control bowel movements.
Occurrence:
- Stool leakage from the rectum at unplanned times.
- Can occur with or without the person's awareness.
Prevalence:
- More common in women and older individuals.
Situations Indicative of Fecal Incontinence:
- Stool leakage during gas passing.
- Leakage during physical activity or daily life exertions.
- Urgent need to use the bathroom but unable to make it in time.
- Observation of stool in underwear after a regular bowel movement.
- Complete loss of bowel control.
