What is Fever, Types, Causes and Treatment
Fever happens when your body temperature goes above normal (98 to 100 degrees Fahrenheit), usually indicating an underlying issue. Your body raises the temperature to fight infection or signal a problem.
There are five types of fevers based on how long they last and how high your temperature gets:
1. Intermittent Fever: Temperature goes up and down during the day.
2. Remittent Fever: Temperature fluctuates but doesn't fully return to normal.
3. Hectic Fever: Temperature swings a lot with a difference of at least 1.4 degrees Celsius, during the day.
4. Continuous Fever: Prolonged fever with little or no change throughout the day.
5. Relapsing Fever: Fever spikes again after days or weeks, common in case of animal bites or malaria.
Signs and symptoms of fever include: sweats or chills, headache, muscular pain, rash, loss of appetite, restlessness and weakness.
Causes of fever include: infections, rheumatoid arthritis, medications, heatstroke, dehydration, etc.
Treatment of fever includes: drinking alot of fluids, taking warm bath and taking medicines like paracetamol,etc.
