Running During Pregnancy Is It Safe
Safe Running During Pregnancy: Is It?
If you're a regular runner and you're pregnant, the good news is that it's generally safe to keep running. It can even have benefits for both you and your baby.
According to a research, it is safe for a woman to continue running during pregnancy if she was already running regularly before becoming pregnant. However, it is recommended to lower the intensity and, for the general population, to stay within 70-75% V02max or the amount of oxygen your body uses while exercising as hard as you can. It is not recommended for a woman to start running if she was not doing so before pregnancy.
New to running? Try low-impact exercises like swimming, walking, or cycling instead. It's important to let your exercise coach or obstetrician-gynecologist know if you plan to exercise during your pregnancy, regardless of your experience level.
